With a growing population, Waterdown, Ontario is a picturesque city with a small town atmosphere. Perched on the edge of the Niagara Escarpment, Waterdown serves as a place of social life and commerce dating back to the 1600s. In 1985, the town of Flamborough passed the by-law that created the Waterdown BIA (Business Improvement Association), and designated the downtown core area as the businesses who form the membership.
With the 2001 amalgamation of the greater City of Hamilton, the Waterdown BIA became one of thirteen BIAs within the new amalgamated city.
Waterdown boasts a diverse variety of shopping from antiques and hobby stores to clothiers, tearooms, fine dining, and cafes.
